There is much to celebrate in June, with both Juneteenth and Pride Month reminding us of how lucky we are to have a wonderful melting pot in our Mosser communities in San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles. Unique to the housing industry, Mosser is a unicorn, being African American and woman-owned and fostering a highly diverse workplace. More than 85 percent of the employees at our LGBTQ inclusive company self-identify as a minority.

We are allies and supporters. Our profound commitment to diversity and inclusion is at the core of company culture and we hope, this month, all of us can join together to lift up those who identify as Black and LGBTQ in our communities.

Show Support at a Pride Parade

The 52nd San Francisco Pride Parade will be at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 26th and is the largest gathering of the LGBTQ community and allies in the nation. Find a spot to watch and support along Market Street between Beale and 8th Streets. The 2022 LA Pride Parade will be held on Hollywood Blvd. on Sunday June 12th. Follow this link for more information.

Frequent Black Businesses for Juneteenth

Among our priorities is to get involved in highly diverse neighborhoods where we improve affordable housing options for those who live there and offer new opportunities for those who want to relocate and/or operate businesses there.

This Juneteenth we encourage you to join us in the joy of liberation by supporting Black-owned businesses—all month. Consider going to Black-owned restaurants, retail shops, donate to Black led organizations or those that support equality and growth for Black people, stream a Black directed show or movie, or attend a special event.

Among the many events on the weekend of June 18-19th, there is the Juneteenth Community Celebration at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, the Juneteenth Festival at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater in San Francisco, and the Juneteenth Weekend events presented by Afrocentric Oakland that include the Pan-African Wellness Fest and Fam Bam X at Oakland’s Lake Merritt Amphitheater.

If you want to try out some of the Black-owned restaurants, we found some great guides: 24 Essential Black-Owned Restaurants in the Bay Area or Black Book LA’s List of Black-Owned Restaurants.

Over our 65-year history, we have prided ourselves on being service providers to residents and stewards of the community. It is our ongoing commitment and in our DNA. Diversity makes our neighborhoods a better place to live for all of us. Let’s get out there this month and show our support and celebrate the vitality in our community.
